17th July '17 Monday - Marsh Harriers

Severn Beach:
2 Common Sandpiper (in a riveting high tide roost count).

Almondsbury (garden):
juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Nuthatch.

Chipping Sodbury Common:
Buzzard, Kestrel, 3 Whinchat, 4 Redstart, 2 Bullfinch.

NORTH SOMERSET:

Weston-super-Mare:
Peregrine hunting the gulls that are hunting the flying ants.


BELOW M4 & BANES


Starlings in Keynsham (Ian Stapp)
Keynsham:
Manor Road playing field: 60+ Starling feeding on ants.

Pensford:
14 Swift, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Grey Wagtail.


RESERVOIRS:

Goldfinch at the Dam (Ian Stapp)
Chew Valley Lake:
20+ hirundines in villages around Chew.
Black Swan, pair of Egyptian Geese, 22 Little Grebe, flock of 180 Great Crested Grebe, 34 Cormorant, 9 Little Egret, 2 juv Marsh Harrier, 5 Lapwing, 1 ad Dunlin (Herriotts), 2 ad Green Sandpiper, 3 Common Sandpiper, 1 2nd-yr Yellow-legged Gull (in its usual spot - on the defunct fishing jetty in Heron's Green Bay), 13 Great Black-backed Gull, 60 Sand Martin, Nuthatch.  Also a moulting flightless adult Water Rail - don't see those very often.  (KEV)

1 Barnacle Goose with 46 Canada Goose, 12+ Swallows, 12 Goldfinch.
