Sightings 5/7/16

ringing news from Brian...
A Dutch ringing event, first ringed Mauretania 27/11/13, then wintered hereabouts until 5/12/15 before turning up on Severnside this Spring.

5/7/16 Greylag Goose (Mrs Trellis)

The annual Greylag Goose round-up took place at Chew this evening. It turned out to be a rather disappointing affair with just 1 Greylag Goose caught plus 189 Canada Goose. 
Canada Goose: 153 new birds ringed, 36 re-traps, heaviest bird 5.45kgs.

Frenchay (Bristol):
UWE: 1 recently fledged Raven.

Emerson's Green:
Science Park: 2 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 1 male Reed Bunting.

New Passage-Northwick:
Wetland stuff, 3 Little Egret, 14 Little Ringed Plover, 2 Ringed Plover (NW flash), 14 Lapwing, 14 Dunlin, 6 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Green Sandpiper, 15 Redshank.

Abbots Leigh:
Sandy Lane: 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 flyover Raven, 6 Swallow, garden.

Portbury Dock:
5 new Shelduck broods 5-10-13-5-18, 1 Little Egret, 3 Buzzard, 10 Oystercatcher, 3 Ringed Plover (+2 chicks), 8 Dunlin, 61 Curlew, 100 Redshank, 250 BH Gull (inc 1 albino), 7 Stock Dove, 10 Reed Warbler, 8 Rock Pipit.

Portbury:
Village: 105 flyover Jackdaw late morning.
Sheepway Lane: 1 Barn Owl out again 9.15pm, railway bridge area.

Pensford:
Lord's Wood: 18 Long-tailed Tit, 5 Chiffchaff, 6 Blackcap.

Bath:

1 Egyptian Goose, 2 Common Sandpiper of note.

Planet Chew:
Things picking up here a bit but still no muddy fringes for the waders.
