Sightings 14/4/16

12/4/16 the Pallid Harrier at Marshfield, Shire Valley (Martyn Hayes)
2nd Avon record following the 2011 bird on the Avon-Mendips border
Martyn found the bird on 12 April and very sensibly got it checked out by others before going public.
It was only seen briefly and flew off after a short while and did not linger.

Summary:
New birds into Avon today were Common Tern, Cuckoo (both Planet Chew) and Channel Wagtail (Northwick Warth).
2 flyover Red Kite and 73 White Wagtail (Northwick Warth) also very noteworthy.

Redland (Bristol):
Zetland Rd: 1 flyover Ring-necked Parakeet. Another or same bird at Waverly Rd on 2 April too.

Sea Mills (Bristol):
6 Shelduck, 1 Common Sandpiper, 20 Redshank.

Chipping Sodbury:
Common: 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Short-eared Owl again, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Swallow, 5 Fieldfare, 11 Chiffchaff, 1 Willow Warbler, 1 Blackcap, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 5 Redstart, 1 Yellowhammer.

Oldbury Power Station:
1 Short-eared Owl (lagoon 3, 8pm), 3 Lesser Whitethroat, 5 Whitethroat, 3 Sedge Warbler, 2 Reed Warbler, 1 Wheatear (jetty), 1 flyover Yellow Wagtail.

Clevedon coast:
Pied Flycatcher: 1 male at the Kingston Seymour seawall bushes this morning (Richard Hunt), near the site of the 2005 Upland Sandpiper. Not seen after its initial discovery though.

Dowlais: 2 Sand Martin, 27 Swallow, 1 House Martin.
Kenn Est: 6 Wheatear.
