Sightings 4/3/16

2 Red Kite this afternoon.
We've had 7 birds in the last 6 days so clearly some spring movement is underway.

Stockwood (Bristol):
Open Space: 30 Woodpigeon, 2 Raven, 2 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Nuthatch, 30 mixed Fieldfare/Redwing, 5 Greenfinch, 18 Goldfinch, 2 Bullfinch.

Bishopsworth (Bristol):
Durville Rd: 25 House Sparrow.
Crox Bottom: 1 Kestrel, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 2 Coal Tit, 9 Long-tailed Tit, 9 Robin, 17 Dunnock, 4 Song Thrush, 1 Redwing, 1 Grey Wagtail.

Easton (Bristol):
River Frome Sluice: 4 Mute Swan, 4 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Robin, 1 Dunnock, 2 Grey Wagtail.

Stoke Bishop (Bristol):
Church Ave: 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Siskin, in the garden.

Siston:
The Pines: 1 flyover Sparrowhawk this morning.

Thornbury:
Butt Lane: 2 Siskin, garden feeders.

Aust Warth:
1 Kestrel, 1 Snipe, 30 Redshank, 2 Skylark.

Northwick Warth:
1 flyover Red Kite 3.25pm to north-east (Brian Lancastle).
Other stuff, 9 Mute Swan, 1 Greylag Goose, 32 Canada Goose, 86 Shelduck, 300 Wigeon, 13 Gadwall, 70 Teal, 4 Shoveler, 14 Tufted Duck, 3 Little Egret, 2 Little Grebe, 50 Dunlin, 85 Curlew, 60 Redshank, 140 Turnstone, 1 Rock Pipit.

Pilning:
1 flyover Red Kite 4.15pm from south-west, it then flew north-east towards Cribbs Causeway.

Severn Beach:
190 Kittiwake, afternoon, single flock lingering.
Other stuff, 20 Wigeon, 30 Dunlin, 5 Turnstne, 11 Linnet.

Portishead:
Redcliffe Bay: 1 male Kestrel.

Gordano Valley:
Walton Common: 9+ Buzzard (soaring and some display), 1 Blackcap, 1 Nuthatch, 11 Blackbird, 2 Song Thrush.
AWT has carried out a lot of scrub clearance here recently and cattle grazing is imminent too which could attract birds.

Clevedon:
Lower Knowles Rd: 1 Blackcap, 1 Black Redstart.
Town: 2 flyover Bar-headed Goose to south.

Yatton:
Strawberry Line: 1 Water Rail.

Congresbury Moor:
4 Little Egret, 1 Water Rail, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Green Sandpiper (both along the Yeo), 1 Cetti's Warbler, 125 Redwing, 2 Stonechat.

Uphill:
1 Short-eared Owl (Clive Dodds).
It predated one of the resident Kestrel here yesterday apparently.

Keynsham Park:
6 Long-tailed Tit, 6 Dunnock, 4 Grey Wagtail, 1 Siskin, 1 Bullfinch.

Blagdon Lake:
Little change, 1 Egyptian Goose, 3 Black-necked Grebe of note.

Planet Chew:
14 Shelduck, 18 Goldeneye, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Buzzard, 1 Peregrine, 1 Water Rail, 4 Oystercatcher (a good bird for here), 3 GBB Gull, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 10 Long-tailed Tit, 5,000 Starling (evening roost), 11 Robin, 7 House Sparrow, 2 Stonechat, 6 Pied Wagtail, 1 Reed Bunting.
