Sightings 17/3/16

Bristol Avon Gorge Peregrine

The birds are currently in full courtship display and should be showing extremely well over the next few weeks until the serious business begins.

Open Space: 2 Buzzard, 20 Woodpigeon, 1 Green Woodpecker, 20 Magpie, 2 Goldcrest, 3 Blackcap, 20 Starling, 1 Song Thrush, 30 Goldfinch of note.

Hanham (Bristol):
Magpie Bottom NR: 1 Goldcrest, 2 Siskin, 2 Bullfinch.

Fishponds (Bristol):
Thingwall Park: 1 Blackcap, garden.

Lawrence Weston (Bristol):
AWT reserve: 1 Buzzard, 1 Water Rail, 1 Jack Snipe, 40 Snipe.

Marshfield:
Rushmead end: 3 Red-legged Partridge, 1 Kestrel, 63 Golden Plover.
Northfield lane: 50 Yellowhammer.

Oldbury Power Station:
2 flyover Greylag Goose (to severnside), 1 Green Sandpiper (yacht club ditches).

Littleton Warth:
25 Shelduck, 80 Wigeon, 1 Little Egret, 2 Oystercatcher, 80 Dunlin, 2 Curlew, 1 Skylark singing.

Aust STW:
1 Buzzard, 1 Green Woodpecker, 2 Raven, 2 Goldcrest, 3 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Reed Bunting.

Aust Warth:
1 Kestrel, 100 Dunlin, 4 Snipe, 8 Redshank plus 70+ Meadow Pipit migrating through in small groups.

New Passage-Northwick:
2 flyover Crane at the wetland mid-afternoon (Penny Insole, Pete Taylor, thanks for the info Martyn Hayes). Presumably GCP birds but wild ones can't be ruled out either.
Shore & wetland: 10 Mute Swan, 4 Greylag Goose (2 from OPS), 25 Canada Goose, 120 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 215 Teal, 8 Tufted Duck, 3 Little Egret, 2 Little Grebe, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Water Rail, 1 flyover Golden Plover, 3 Ruff (wetland), 1 Snipe, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, 40 Redshank, 80 Turnstone, 2 Raven.

Severn Beach:
