Sightings 28/1/16

BirdgirlUK: Could everyone please NOT log on to BirdgirlUK's blog as her Fatbirder ranking of 17 is very much better than ours and also her page-views are soon to overtake us.

Open Space: 1 Buzzard, 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Jay, 2 Fieldfare, 1 Song Thrush, 50 Linnet.

Stapleton (Bristol):
Church: 2 Peregrine.

Easton (Bristol):
Camelford Rd: 2 Goldcrest, 1 Chiffchaff of note.
Greenbank Cemetery: 3 Jay, 1 Goldcrest.

Eastville Park (Bristol):
2 Firecrest again, seen together at Colston Hill ST617760 (Michael Davis). A really good showing of this species here since 2 January.
Other stuff, 2 Sparrowhawk, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Raven, 2 Treecreeper, 1 Grey Wagtail.

W-o-T (Bristol):
Badock's Wood/river Trym: 2 flyover Raven, 1 Treecreeper, 1 Dipper, 3 Grey Wagtail.

Marshfield:
Rushmead Lane end: 1 Red-legged Partridge, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 30 Golden Plover, 50 Skylark, 30 Fieldfare, 50 Linnet, 100 Corn Bunting.
Shire Valley: 1 Peregrine, 10 Long-tailed Tit, 30 Fieldfare, 2 Grey Wagtail of note.

Not much change, 10 Mute Swan, 1 Greylag Goose, 81 Canada Goose, 34 Shelduck, 500 Wigeon, 20 Gadwall, 110 Teal, 30 Shoveler, 12 Tufted Duck, 1 Little Egret, 1 Merlin, 2 Water Rail, 102 Oystercatcher, 270 Lapwing, 280 Curlew, 45 Redshank, 1 Water Pipit.

1 Merlin, attacked a Snipe, 4 Ringed Plover.

Wains Hill-Yeo Est: 2 Mute Swan, 5 Canada Goose, 70 Shelduck, 60 Wigeon, 20 Teal, 12 Mallard, 22 Shoveler, 2 Little Egret, 3 Grey Heron, 22 Oystercatcher, 6 Ringed Plover, 22 Grey Plover, 1,100 Lapwing, 15 Knot, 4,500 Dunlin, 2 Jack Snipe, 18 Snipe, 120 Curlew, 1 Spotted Redshank (Yeo again), 120 Redshank, 1,200 BH Gull, 20 Herring Gull, 1 Little Owl (Blake's Pool end), 2 Raven, 10 Skylark, 1,200 Starling in wet fields, 3 Rock Pipit.

1 Buzzard, 50 Woodpigeon, 1 Stock Dove, 2 Raven, 70 Skylark, 20 Starling, 6 Blackbird, 120 Fieldfare, 10 Redwing, 1 Meadow Pipit, 5 Chaffinch, 20 Yellowhammer.

Newton St Loe:
Lake & environs: 7 Goosander, 4 Yellowhammer of note.

Bath:
Landsdown GC: 1 Marsh Tit, in woodlands.

Backwell Lake:
2 Pochard (pair), 9 Tufted Duck, 1 drake Goosander, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Jack Snipe (good record for here), 1 Kingfisher.

Blagdon Lake:
5 Egyptian Goose (equals patch record), 25 Pochard counted (21m, 4f), 4 Goldeneye, 1 Goosander, 3 Grey Heron, 3 Black-necked Grebe, 2 Snipe, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Coal Tit plus plenty of common garden birds on the Lodge feeders.
Also 1 butterfly sp on the wing seen, considered to be a Red Admiral.

Litton Res:
1 Canada Goose, 1 Teal, 26 Tufted Duck, 23 Mallard, 5 Cormorant, 10 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Herring Gull (gulls unusual here!), 2 flyover Raven, 6 Long-tailed Tit.

Planet Chew:
