Marshfield is the stronghold for Corn Bunting in Avon. 100+ birds reported here this month on several dates plus smaller numbers at other times. No other Avon site attracts such numbers.

Golden Valley: 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Raven, 5 Goldcrest, 12 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Nuthatch, 6 Treecreeper. 

Winterbourne:
Pond: The drake Wood Duck still at anchor.

Oldbury Power Station:
14 Pintail down, 1 immature Little Gull up of particular note, both good sightings for the estuary.

Greenbank Cemetery: 1 Ring-necked Parakeet this morning (Michael Davis). Possibly the bird seen at St George on 5 January.

Eastville Lake (Bristol):
2 Firecrest. Past the broken kissing gate, then up the hill to the old garden wall on the left.
Other stuff, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Jay, 4 Goldcrest, 15 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Dipper, 2+ Treecreeper.

Bristol Centre:
New Cut: 1 Common Sandpiper, by the Riverside Garden Centre.

Westbury-on-Trym (Bristol):
Badock's Wood: 1 Dipper again, footbridge on river Trym off Doncaster Rd.

Marshfield:
10 Red-legged Partridge, 2 Merlin (m+f Rushmead Lane end but not together), 50 Corn Bunting of note. The peace disturbed by shooting parties and model aircraft enthusiasts.

Inglestone Common:
2 Kestrel, 1 Barn Owl, late afternoon.
